Cabinetmaker Aksel Kjersgaard founded his own furniture fabrication house in 1952 after many years spent working as a craftsman throughout Europe and Morocco. Production began in 1955, originally creating hall furniture and small pieces. In subsequent years, the factory began to enjoy the attention of many international clients and now exports worldwide. From the outset the emphasis has been on functionality and high design; creations that fit the modernist principles. A high level of workmanship is constantly employed, ensuring the pieces last lifetimes, while being constructed of only the best, carefully sourced materials. Kjergaard's pieces are wonderfully simple, understated examples of Scandinavian design flair and craftsmanship, boasting great lines and cabinet maker-quality construction.
