Jean Claude Mahey

Jean Claude Mahey's designs are influenced by a childhood spent in a family of painters and decorators in Mayenne, in the west of France, an area dotted with splendid country houses and small chateaux. He attended the school of Applied Arts in Paris and in 1966 founded his decorating company. In 1976, he created his very first collection of contemporary furniture, which was presented with great success by his wife and close collaborator Betty Mahey. The collection was built in his own workshops, making use of materials such as lacquer, grained precious woods, marble and copper. The family business continues in the spacious Madélia showroom in Paris, which was opened in 1992.
