Here we have a pair of teak and leather Arne Hovmand-Olsen carver armchairs. The leather has aged beautifully and the seat has had new foam so they look and feel as good as new. The teak has been cleaned and polished and the chairs are back to their stunning former glory. Designed in 1958 by Architect turned furniture designer Arne Hovmand-Olsen. Made in Denmark by Jutex with a clearly visible makers mark on the underside of the seat. These chairs can be used as carver armchairs in a dining set or as a desk chair or general side chairs.
In 1938, the young Arne Hovmand-Olsen apprenticed to cabinetmaker P.Olsen Sibast. 3 years later, after his apprenticeship, he began studying furniture design. Producing his own designs was something he was passionate about. His furniture sold throughout Denmark and was also exported overseas. During his career he also designed for Mogens Kold and in the case of these incredible chairs, Jutex. Of all of the chairs that he designed, without a doubt, these two have the most pleasing form.
