This Mid Century 1960s lounge chair was designed by Ilmari Lappalainen circa 1968 for Finnish furniture manufacturer Asko. This adjustable lounger and Ottoman is super comfortable and also creates three distinct lounging positions from sitting up straight to virtually lying down. It is the lounger that you just won’t want to get up from. The aluminium frame holds the soft cushioned leather seat which has a plastic adjustable setting underneath. With that in mind, the juxtaposition between the aluminium and leather is what really sets this piece apart. This is without doubt a mid century design classic. In particular, this piece showcases the minimalism and sense of modernism that this period of design was so notable for. The leather on this chair has been recently professionally dyed black by a leather expert as it needed freshening when we received it. Its a super job and a durable finish.
