This gorgeous Royal Copenhagen vase by Ivan Weiss dates back to the mid-1970’s. Ceramic Artist Weiss, was born in 1946. He began his career with Royal Copenhagen at the age of 16. There he trained there as an ‘overglaze painter’. Following two years in Hagi, Japan, he came back to Royal Copenhagen as a Ceramist and worked with Nils Thorsson. Weiss has had a long career with Royal Copenhagen. Forty two years in total. However, he was deeply influenced by his time in Japan. Without a doubt, he was hugely particularly inspired by Japanese calligraphy. This influence can be clearly seen in this beautiful vase.
This is a medium sized vase that has exquisite tones and colours. We love the details and craftsmanship that has gone into this. Beautifully turned and painted, this is a very fine example of mid-century Royal Copenhagen Ceramics. It is also Ivan Weiss on top form.
